SPREADING RATE

Spread rates are based on the product being applied to sound smooth plaster. This product will cover approximately 0.88 m² - 1.17 m² p/litre per coat depending on the type of substrate and surface porosity.

APPLICATION

  • SURFACE PREPARATION: NEW SURFACES: Ensure surfaces are in sound condition, dry (10 % moisture maximum), clean and free from any contaminants such as dust, dirt, rust, salt, algae and grease. Remove all loose materials mechanically, with a wire brush, or by water or sand blasting, then thoroughly clean surfaces with a suitable surface cleaner. Metal or galvanised surfaces must be free of rust and should be primed with Promac Metal Etch Primer. Prime metal fasteners (screw / nail heads) with a suitable Promac metal primer. Apply one coat of a suitable Promac plaster primer to cement, masonry, plaster, concrete and fibre cement. Apply one coat of solvent based Promac Wood Primer to timber and building boards. Apply one or more coats of undiluted water based Promac Bonding Liquid onto concrete roofs, raw brick walls and cementitious tiles to achieve a sealed hazy finish for maximum overcoating adhesion, followed by one coat of a suitable Promac plaster primer.

  • PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES: Ensure surfaces are dry (15 % moisture maximum), in sound condition and clean. Remove all loose materials mechanically, with a wire brush, or by water or sand blasting, then thoroughly clean surfaces with a suitable surface cleaner until surface is free from any contaminants such as dust, dirt, rust, salt, algae and flaking paint. Restore to a sound strong surface before repainting. After cleaning friable previously painted acrylic surfaces apply one or more coats of undiluted water based Promac Bonding Liquid until a restored sound surface is achieved. Prime bare metal, metal fasteners (screw / nail heads) and galvanized surfaces with Promac Metal Etch Primer.

  • JOINTS & CRACKS: While still wet with a fresh coating, embed non-woven polyester fabric membrane into the first coat of Promac Rubber Duck Liquid Rubber and saturate. This increases the film strength over joints. Leave to dry for 6 hours before overcoating with Promac Rubber Duck Liquid Rubber as described above.

  • FIRST COAT: Apply one coat of Promac Rubber Duck Liquid Rubber to the prepared surface. Ensure to apply a uniform wet film thickness of 100-125μm 8-10m²/litre per coat. Allow drying for 1-1:30 hours, before applying the second coat while tacky.

  • SECOND COAT: Apply a second coat of Promac Rubber Duck Liquid Rubber. Plan your area to be painted with the second coat, allowing 1-1: 30 hours drying time after the first coat. Ensure to apply a uniform wet film thickness as tabled in SPREADING RATE/APPLICATION. Allow drying for at least 8 hours @ 23 °C ambient temperature before continuing.

  • WATERPROOFING TOPCOAT: Apply one coat Promac Rubber Duck Liquid Rubber. Ensure to apply a uniform wet film thickness as tabled in SPREADING RATE/APPLICATION. Allow drying for at least 8 hours @ 23 °C ambient temperature before continuing. Allow to cure for at least 14 days.

  • SPECIFIC APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Roof Slopes: Make sure that the slopes are such that they prevent water from ponding (Minimum slope of 2- 4°). Make sure that the slopes are even along the roof.

CLEANING

After use, clean all tools (brushes and rollers) while wet with water.
